چکیده
Abstract BACKGROUND The identification of new resources for producing biofuels and chemical‐based products is crucial processes sustainability. This study presents a valorization route to produce ethanol ethylene using cocoa's mucilage juice (MJ) residue from cocoa farms variety ‘Arriba’ (AC). processing parameters maximize the production subsequent selective conversion into were determined. Ethanol has been carried out by investigating effect three parameters: temperature fermentation, initial fermentation pH addition (NH 4 ) 2 SO as an N source in presence free Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC 366. Consecutively, selectivity ethanol–ethylene zeolite‐based ZSM‐5 catalyst was evaluated at different temperatures concentrations. RESULTS During production, best sugar reached 30 °C, adjusting 5 without nitrogen source, resulting 86.83% conversion, maximum concentration 68.65 g L −1 rate 2.03 h after 168 fermentation. On other hand, produced ZSM‐5‐based zeolite with >99.9% efficiency range 240–300 °C. In addition, formation found 240 °C ethanol. CONCLUSION approach hereby presented shows MJ waste AC minimum input costs, demonstrating successful convert farm bio‐based product enhanced marketability. © 2022 Authors. The role of nickel as catalyst on the conversion of methane and ethylene in a gas phase flow reactor in the absence of oxygen is studied. In this study, nickel in its different forms is used as catalyst. The role of pressure, flow rate, and temperature on the conversion of feed gases is investigated. The experiments have been carried out in the presence and absence of the catalysts to measure t...
متن کاملCatalytic and Non-catalytic Conversion of Methane to C2 Hydrocarbons in a Low Temperature Plasma
The direct conversion of methane to C2 hydrocarbons, in a quartz tube reactor enforced by a DC corona discharge, was investigated at atmospheric pressure. The process was carried out in the presence of metal oxide catalysts of Mn/W/SiO2, Mn/W/SiO2 (tetraethyl orthosilicate, TEOS), and Mn/W/CNT (supported on carbon nanotubes). The total yield to C2 hydrocarbons in the presence of metal oxide cat...
متن کاملEthylene Formation by Catalytic Dehydration of Ethanol with Industrial Considerations
Ethylene is the primary component in most plastics, making it economically valuable. It is produced primarily by steam-cracking of hydrocarbons, but can alternatively be produced by the dehydration of ethanol, which can be produced from fermentation processes using renewable substrates such as glucose, starch and others. Due to rising oil prices, researchers now look at alternative reactions to...
